Salary: NJC Grades E - F: £30,518 - £39,152 FTE (this will be paid pro-rata according to hours and weeks worked).
Working Pattern: These are permanent positions working 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year (Monday to Friday Between 7:45am - 6pm).
South Brent Primary School is seeking to recruit both a Nursery Manager and a Deputy Nursery Manager for its new nursery, “Little Roots and Shoots Nursery & Pre-School”, birth – 4yrs, planned to open in September 2026. Little Roots and Shoots Nursery & Pre-School will be open for 48 weeks a year, Monday to Friday and from 8am to 6pm. The successful applicants will work very closely together and alongside our school’s Early Years Leader. Working patterns and holidays will be planned to ensure either the Manager, or the Deputy Manager are on session at any given time.
These are 52 week roles, with 4 weeks of holiday taken during the nursery closure weeks during Christmas, Easter and a week of the school summer holidays (dates to be confirmed annually to align with school holidays).
Applicants must have a minimum of a Level 3 Early Years qualification - NVQ or equivalent, and have recent experience of working in a similar role with nursery and/or pre-school age children. As part of the roles, the successful applicants will be required to lead in one of the nursery rooms (to be negotiated according to the successful applicants' experience and qualifications). These roles are F Grade and E Grade respectively, and as such the successful applicants must be able to make decisions at a level that are appropriate to the roles and should have a secure understanding of their safeguarding responsibilities.

Little Roots and Shoots Nursery & Pre-School will be based in a beautiful large building, specifically designed to accommodate children under the age of 5, that sits on the South Brent Primary School site. It will form part of a new EYFS Unit, with the school’s reception aged children learning alongside the nursery children. South Brent sits a short distance from the A38 and is very accessible for staff travelling from the local areas around Totnes and Ivybridge. The school and the nursery & pre-school are part of The Harbour Schools Partnership, a multi-academy trust with many successful nurseries. Staff joining our teams benefit from a wide range of training opportunities and support.
