About the Role
Roundswell Community Primary Academy are seeking committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join our school team. You will play a key role in supporting pupils' learning, wellbeing and development, helping to create a positive, inclusive and engaging school environment.
Responsibilities
- Work under the guidance of teaching and senior staff, supporting learning in both classroom and small-group settings.
- Support pupils' welfare and personal care, including those with SEND.
- Implement literacy and numeracy interventions.
- Assist with planning cycles and preparing learning resources.
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage pupil independence.
- Assist with supervision during break/lunchtimes and accompany pupils on trips when required.
- Engage with pupils in a positive and nurturing manner.
- Fulfil other duties as required by senior staff.
- Support staff in creating an inclusive learning environment.
- Provide early intervention and support to individual pupils.
- Assist with monitoring and recording pupil progress.
- Help maintain a safe and organised classroom and school environment.
- Provide continuity of care during school closures or special events.
- Provide support to pupils in meeting the national curriculum and set targets.
- Encourage pupils to work independently and take responsibility for their actions.
- Keep instructional teaching hands‑on and maintain learning physical activities.
This role requires an enhanced DBS disclosure.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience working with or caring for children of a relevant age.
- Knowledge of safeguarding practice and strategies to remove barriers to learning.
- Strong communication skills, including confidence and fluency in spoken English.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to relate well to both children and adults.
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience supporting pupils with Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).
- Knowledge of SEN practices and the national curriculum.
- Additional training in learning strategies such as literacy or numeracy.
- NVQ Level 2 for Teaching Assistants or equivalent.
