Job Purpose: As the Philanthropy Engagement Manager, you will be a key member of the strategic philanthropy team, advancing HALO’s income growth ambitions by strengthening and growing a robust pipeline of individual donors. This role focuses on cultivating meaningful relationships with mid- to high-level supporters, securing five- and six-figure gifts, and delivering exceptional stewardship that reflects the impact of HALO’s mission. You will be responsible for the delivery of high-level, bespoke donor engagement events, creating impactful experiences that deepen donor relationships and support fundraising outcomes. Working closely with internal stakeholders and global programme teams, this role offers the chance for an ambitious individual to make a lasting impact and help transform the lives of people in some of the world’s most conflict-affected communities.
About HALO: HALO is the leading global NGO addressing the impact and drivers of conflict in 30 countries and territories, with over 8,000 staff. Most of our staff are local employees and include a growing number of women. Our primary duty is to serve people affected by conflict, clearing landmines and the explosive remnants of war that threaten lives and livelihoods long after fighting has finished. We make land safe where war has ended, while also assisting those affected by active conflict and endemic violence. HALO addresses human suffering caused by armed violence in some of the world’s most fragile places, securing weapons and ammunition and working with both state and community actors to reduce the prevalence of armed violence.
About the role: Although HALO has been operating for over 30 years, its dedicated philanthropy programme has seen significant growth only in recent years. Over the past five years, global philanthropic income has grown from £4 million to £44 million in 2023/24, with UK-based philanthropic income (led by the Global Philanthropy Team) rising from £3.6 million to £8.9 million. Much of this recent increase has been driven by exceptional donor support for HALO’s work in Ukraine, particularly from the United States. This growth has been underpinned by the development of six- and seven-figure partnerships with philanthropists, corporates, and foundations, supported by HALO’s influential network of trustees and ambassadors and delivered by our committed and professional global philanthropy team. The Global Philanthropy Team consists of 17 fundraising professionals, predominantly based in the UK, who are responsible for cultivating and stewarding donors across the UK, Europe, and an expanding range of international markets, including the Middle East and Singapore. The team works closely with HALO’s US-based philanthropy colleagues, who lead the strategy and delivery of fundraising in the United States and Canada. This is a high-impact role, where the successful candidate will be expected to deliver against ambitious team targets in a fast-paced and results-driven environment. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced relationship fundraiser to join a high-performing, mission-driven team and contribute meaningfully to HALO’s global impact.
Responsibilities:
- Support the growth of individual donor philanthropy by managing and growing a personal portfolio of mid-level prospects to secure five- and six-figure gifts.
- Provide support to the Strategic Philanthropy Leads, delivering exceptional stewardship for both new and existing donors and a high-quality experience at every stage of the relationship.
- Devise and manage the delivery of bespoke events and donor engagement opportunities.
- Work closely with HALO’s senior volunteers to identify and engage new prospective donors.
- Ensure accurate and timely management of donor records, communications, and reporting through Salesforce.
- Develop effective internal relationships with global senior stakeholders and programme teams to enable the creation of high-quality, compelling proposals and timely impact reporting.
General:
- Uphold HALO’s core values and standards, promoting its ethos and mission statement.
- Ensure familiarity with and adherence to all HALO policies and procedures, especially the code of conduct and safeguarding.

- Experience of organising and managing bespoke, high-level engagement events.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to demonstrate tact, diplomacy, and gravitas when engaging with supporters, senior stakeholders, volunteers, and advisors.
- An excellent understanding of donor networks and how to navigate them.
- A confident and compelling communicator able to inspire support across diverse cultural and professional contexts.
- Excellent written skills, with experience developing high-quality, donor-focused proposals and reports in collaboration with programmatic and finance colleagues.
- Experience using fundraising databases (e.g., Salesforce) to manage donor records and track engagement.
- Intellectual curiosity and a strong grasp of philanthropic trends, with the ability to understand and articulate HALO’s mission and strategic priorities to a high-level audience.
- A collaborative team player who thrives in a global, fast-paced, and entrepreneurial environment, with the flexibility to work across time zones and geographies.
- A good sense of humour, an ability to self-reflect, and a commitment to HALO’s mission, values, and ambition for global impact.
