Job Purpose: HALO is currently looking for team lead EOD responsible for conducting conventional EOD tasks and operations in potential chemical environments. In addition, team Lead will be crucial in the development and implementation of this new capability.

About the role: The role involves managing EOD teams and assisting in the necessary Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) procedures. The candidate will support the identification, marking, mapping, and reporting of all explosive remnants of war (ERW), including suspected and confirmed hazardous areas, to ensure they are accurately entered into the national database. All tasks must be carried out in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to EOD and NTS activities.
Responsibilities:
- Training
- Support delivery of EOD training.
- Maintain and develop standard training management plans and materials for IMAS EOD courses.
- Liaise with the programme management to arrange logistics, facilities, travel and other resources required for training.
- Implement train-the-trainer courses and certify programme-level EOD trainers as appropriate.
- Ensure that courses are delivered in accordance with the budget and in accordance with operational needs.
- Ensure the welfare, safety and security of training participants.
- Prepare and submit course reports.
- Maintain all materials and records in SharePoint and on Confluence as appropriate.
- Operations
- Development and implement a conventional EOD capability, capable of operating in a potential chemical environment.
- Lead and manage an EOD Team in the MENAA area of operations.
- Conduct EOD tasks (conventional munition disposal only). Plan and implement EOD tasks.
- Support programmes in the development of local SOPs that conform to NMAS where required.
- Provide advice to programme teams on complex disposal operations and supervise the development of task-specific procedures where required.
- Liaise with the programme to ensure the effective operations of the EOD Team.

- Ensure familiarity with and adhere to all HALO policies and procedures.
- Undertake the role in a manner appropriate to the cultural context and within the local legal framework.
- Understand and uphold the standards outlined in HALO’s safeguarding policy, acting with due care and attention to safeguard the well-being of anyone that comes into contact with HALO’s work and reporting concerns if they arise.
- Discharge duties and responsibilities under HALO’s health and safety procedures.
- Carry out any other duties as directed to meet programme standards and operational requirements.
Requirements:
Essential:
- An extensive background in conducting EOD (conventional munitions disposal) operations.
- An EOD 3 qualification is essential. Additionally, EOD 3+ (CBRN/BCMD) certification is highly desirable. EOD 3+ (IEDD) is advantageous. Military or civilian qualifications are acceptable.
- Experience of operating in a chemical weapon environment.
- A deep understanding of chemical weapons hazards and their precursors, associated equipment, and decontamination.
- Strong IT and general computer skills (particularly Microsoft Office).
- Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills – you will need to quickly slot into established teams and work with and train people from a diverse range of backgrounds and cultures.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of Arabic would be advantageous, but it is not essential.
General:

Travel Requirements:
- Field visits as and when required.
