A career opportunity for a confident and adventurous musician with the vision to lead and develop our established music programme for pupils from Reception to Year 3. You will manage all aspects of the music provision in the Junior School, overseeing peripatetic lessons and ensembles, and liaising with the Director of Music to ensure continuity and progression into the Middle and Senior Schools. Music plays an integral part in school life, with over 95% of boys playing at least one instrument and 50 ensembles across the three sites. Recent school concerts have taken place at St John’s Smith Square and Cadogan Hall. The successful candidate will build upon and further develop this thriving music programme.

You will be academically well qualified, with a degree in Music and Qualified Teacher Status, and a strong and experienced piano accompanist. Ideally, you will also have experience of leading and conducting orchestras, choirs, and ensemble groups. You will plan, rehearse, and provide piano accompaniment for Junior School concerts, productions, the Carol Service, and the annual Cadogan Hall Gala Concert.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent organisational skills, contribute to the pastoral development and wellbeing of pupils, and participate in parent evenings. You will teach whole-class music lessons from Reception to Year 3, inspire and support pupils in their musical progress, and ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality music education.

We are seeking to appoint for a September commencement. Should existing notice periods make this unfeasible, a January start date would also be acceptable. The School is a thriving and successful selective preparatory school for boys in North London. The Hall School provides a high-calibre education for all our pupils (approx. 470) from age 4 to 13. Our goal is to foster a happy, secure, and energetic community where both pupils and staff can flourish.

We welcome applications from across the full range of school settings. Located in Belsize Park, we are easily accessible on the Metropolitan, Jubilee and Northern lines.
