We’re hiring a Senior Platform Engineer (Prototype) for a 3-Month Contract (Part-Time Negotiable) with The Hacking Games. This position is remote and flexible.
Most security data platforms make the same trade-off: normalise early, lose fidelity, query fast. We’re building something that refuses that trade-off. The architecture is defined, and we need a senior engineer to build it, someone who understands why the trade-offs most platforms accept are actually the source of their limitations.
You’ll work at the intersection of:
- Systems programming
- Data engineering
- Security telemetry
- Behavioural analysis
AI-assisted development (Claude Code) is mandatory and central to the workflow. This is build-to-learn engineering, producing a defensible, investor-ready demonstrator.
What You’ll Build (Prototype Scope):
- High-fidelity telemetry ingestion (host, network, identity, cloud)
- Behavioural correlation using graph-based reasoning
- Scenario reproduction with structural integrity
- Derived intelligence and an interactive end-to-end demonstrator
The challenges here are architectural — not things open-source tools solve cleanly.
Ideal Profile
You are a senior / principal IC who:
- Understands Linux internals (namespaces, cgroups, eBPF, kernel boundary)
- Can read a PCAP and reconstruct application-layer behaviour
- Has built streaming data pipelines with ordering guarantees
- Has worked with high-cardinality columnar analytics (ClickHouse, DuckDB)
- Understands graph modelling (Neo4j, Cypher, Gremlin)
- Knows container isolation primitives beyond surface Docker usage
- Codes in Python or Go (C / Rust a plus)
Highly valued:
- Offensive security background
- Deep experience with EDR/SIEM structural limitations
- MITRE ATT&CK at technique level
- Infrastructure-as-code for reproducible labs
- LLM-assisted development as a core habit
How We Work
- AI-assisted development is mandatory
- Engineers push back with evidence
- Direct access to founders
- No bureaucracy
- High IP sensitivity (full architecture shared under NDA at interview)
What We Care About
We are not looking for a polished CV. We are looking for evidence that you understand the problem space. When applying, send 2–3 paragraphs describing:
- Where you worked with high-fidelity security telemetry
- What frustrated you about it
- What you would have done differently
That tells us more than a CV.
