About the role
Habitat Restoration Co. Ltd is looking to recruit a Habitat Restoration Operative to join our growing team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to build a long-term career working outdoors, contributing to meaningful environmental projects, and growing alongside a small, knowledgeable, and ambitious business. We’re looking for the right person, not just a list of qualifications. Practical experience is helpful, but curiosity, enthusiasm, and a genuine interest in nature and the environment are just as important. This role would suit someone who enjoys varied work, is keen to learn, and wants to be part of a team that takes pride in doing things properly.
What you’ll be doing
Your role will involve a wide variety of practical land management and habitat restoration tasks, generally split seasonally, including:
- Grounds maintenance and woodland establishment
- Tree and hedgerow planting
As you grow into the role, you’ll also have the opportunity to support and develop skills in our wider services, including:
- Wildlife pond and wetland creation
- Natural flood management works
- Woodland management and restoration
- Supporting ecological and consultancy-led projects
No two weeks are the same, and you’ll work across a range of sites in Devon and Cornwall, from farms and estates to nature reserves and conservation sites.
About you
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has a genuine interest in working outdoors and within nature
- Is curious about ecology, habitats, and land management
- Enjoys practical, hands-on work and varied locations
- Wants to learn, develop, and grow their career with us
- Is reliable, adaptable, and enjoys working as part of a small team
Experience with machinery, tools, or land-based work is welcome but not essential. If you already hold tickets such as strimmer, chainsaw, or spraying qualifications, that’s a bonus - but training can be provided.
