National Account & Category Executive – Job Description

The Gym Kitchen launched with a bang in 2020 and is listed in UK retailers such as Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, Co-op, Sainsbury’s, Ocado & Amazon. Our range consists of high-protein, macro-counted food across more than 8 categories, our aim is to make healthy eating affordable, accessible and most importantly tasty!
We are recruiting a National Account & Category Executive who is dynamic & talented. This is a key position that will be instrumental in driving the growth of our brand in retail. You’ll be supporting in the delivery of a growth plan for new and existing customers. You will do this by utilising category and consumer insight to influence our customers. You will also have day to day communication with wider business functions (marketing and manufacturing) to ensure the team are all working towards one goal.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, gaining hands-on experience across various aspects of commercial. This role is ideally suited to someone with 1-2 years’ experience as a National & Category Account Executive, seeking a pathway to National Account Manager or Category Manager.
What you’ll be doing:
- Analysis of category data, providing commentary that will be used in the selling process
- Support current listings in account management, drive new business & NPD
- Summarise consumer insights to support gaps in the market, across multiple categories
- Prepare presentations for external sales meetings
- Development of customer specific promotional calendars
- Recommend customer product mix that align with strategic brand and category guidelines
- Advise and recommend customer commercials with an understanding of margins
- Forecast on expected volumes and sales pipeline and communicate with production and operations teams
- Execute sampling activations and events activations
- Complete regular store visits and attend retailer conferences
- Manage customer contact database
To be considered for the role, you will have to demonstrate the following:
- An understanding of category data and how to present it
- Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint and Excel
- Understand business performance and key performance drivers
- Ideally previous experience of the commercial process within grocery sector and in FMCG
- Minimum degree level qualification
- You have strong communication skills are influential, building effective cross functional links both internally and externally
- Some experience with P&L Analysis – you are confident with data and can interpret it, to use as a commercial advantage
- You can work effectively within a team from a remote location
- An entrepreneurial go getter mind set
- Minimum 1+ years sales experience within FMCG Food or Drink
- Ambitious, driven, and self-motivated with proven ability to work independently
- Tenacious, resilient, and confident with excellent interpersonal, communication and sales/negotiating skills
- A “get-things-done” attitude and ability to work to deadlines
- Entrepreneurial spirit and proactivity to seek new opportunities
- Flexibility to travel as needed to manufacturers and retailers
