Reporting to: Senior Health & Safety Manager

Based: Clapham Junction 3 days per week (2 days hybrid/remote)

We are now on the lookout for a Health & Safety Officer to join our amazing Health & Safety Team working regionally looking after our gyms within the M25.

What you'll be responsible for…

  • Partnering with Regional, Cluster and Gym Managers across an assigned patch to provide practical, expert health and safety advice that genuinely supports how they run their sites.
  • Conducting audits, inspections and risk assessments across the gym estate, tracking actions through to verified completion and conducting follow-up visits where needed.
  • Leading thorough investigations into serious accidents, incidents and near misses, driving root cause analysis and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
  • Managing and developing the Health and Safety Heroes programme, including training, guidance and ongoing support for programme members.
  • Delivering health and safety training, workshops and awareness sessions to operational teams and at regional meetings.
  • Supporting enforcing authority visits, managing formal notices and keeping stakeholders informed throughout.
  • Contributing to ISO 45001 and FITcert accreditation audits, and leading on at least one technical specialism such as CDM, Building Safety or fire safety.
  • Producing regional performance updates, analysing trends and supporting the preparation of the monthly Safe and Legal Report.

To enrich our great team, we are looking for a Health and Safety Officer who embraces their role, the team and our culture. We’re looking for someone who is clearly able to demonstrate:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (or recognised equivalent) - this is a firm requirement.
  • Solid experience working in a health and safety role across a multi-site operational environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and Approved Codes of Practice.
  • Practical experience of CDM and Building Safety requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead incident investigations, conduct risk assessments and manage audit action plans to completion.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with operational managers at all levels.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across an assigned regional patch.

It would be desirable if:

  • You hold a level 6 health and safety qualification (NEBOSH Diploma, NCRQ Diploma in Applied Health and Safety) although not essential.
  • You are a member of IOSH at Graduate or Chartered level with a structured CPD in place although not essential.
  • You have experience of working with an outsourced health and safety consultancy.
  • You have practical experience working with or implementing ISO 45001.
