About the Role

Our Repairs and Maintenance team is seeking an experienced Service Manager to join the Guinness Property team in Havant. This is a permanent position working 40 hours per week, covering operational hours between 8:00 am and 7:00 pm, Monday to Friday, plus Saturday mornings. Later shifts and Saturday coverage are shared on a rota basis.

This role leads and supports an area-based operational team in delivering a high-quality Responsive Repairs service. You will drive performance, ensure excellent customer outcomes, and maintain high standards of service delivery across the team.

We currently operate a hybrid working model, combining office, site-based and home working. A works van will be provided for business use. As this role covers Portsmouth, Waterlooville and the surrounding areas, the successful candidate should be based within these locations or within a reasonable commuting distance to support operational requirements effectively.

What we are looking for

You will have experience leading, managing and developing operational teams, together with a strong understanding of building construction, social housing repairs, and relevant health and safety legislation. You will also have practical trade experience, supported by a relevant NVQ or City & Guilds qualification.

In addition, you will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Up-to-date knowledge of building construction, maintenance, repairs, and safety legislation.
  • Experience leading, managing, developing and motivating teams.
  • Strong knowledge of housing sector best practice and relevant legislation.
  • Experience of subcontractor management.
  • Proven ability to deliver a high-quality, customer-focused repairs service.
  • Experience using repairs management information systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively manage and improve operational team performance.
  • A commitment to demonstrating the Guinness Behaviours.
  • Desirable skills and experience
  • Experience working as part of a management team delivering frontline services.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.

Qualifications:

  • Essential
  • Relevant technical qualification, such as a Trade NVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • NVQ Level 3 in First Line Management.
  • Desirable
  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS) qualification.
