About The Role
At West Northants Council, it’s about our people and the difference they make. As a Council Tax Recovery Senior Officer, you’ll play a key role within our Revenues & Benefits service, helping to ensure income is collected accurately and efficiently to support vital services for our communities. You’ll act as a specialist in Council Tax recovery, handling complex cases while supporting the wider team to deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service. What will you be doing?
- Take ownership of complex Council Tax recovery cases, ensuring they are managed accurately and in line with legislation while helping to maximise collection rates.
- Support and guide Recovery Officers, providing advice, coaching and quality assurance to maintain high standards across the team.
- Monitor performance, allocate workloads and assist Team Leaders with reporting, system improvements and policy development.
- Work closely with colleagues and customers to promote a customer-first approach while ensuring recovery processes are timely, compliant and effective.
About You
- Experienced Revenues professional with strong knowledge of Council Tax recovery and the confidence to handle complex cases.
- Highly organised, able to manage competing priorities and work to tight deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, able to support colleagues, provide constructive feedback and engage with customers in a professional and empathetic way.
- Proactive, solutions‑focused and comfortable taking the lead when needed, and committed to continuous improvement and delivering high-quality outcomes, reflecting the THRIVE values.
