Are you passionate about sustainable travel and ensuring efficient public transport services for your community? West Northamptonshire Council is seeking a dedicated individual to join our Highways and Transport Team as a Public Transport Officer.
In this varied and rewarding role, you will support the delivery of public transport services across West Northamptonshire by monitoring and analysing service performance data, including bus reliability and passenger usage trends. You will be responsible for producing and maintaining accurate passenger information, including timetables, maps and publicity materials across a range of digital, printed and roadside channels, while working closely with bus operators to ensure compliance with the Bus Open Data System (BODS). You will process registrations for new, revised and withdrawn bus services, providing advice to colleagues, councillors and local councils on proposed changes and their potential impact on communities. The role also includes administering concessionary travel pass applications, responding to customer enquiries, and supporting the delivery and maintenance of bus stop infrastructure. Working with contractors, operators and stakeholders, you will help ensure residents have access to accurate information and a high-quality public transport network.
To thrive in this role, you should demonstrate strong analytical and data management skills, ensuring accurate insights for informed decision-making. You should also have good communication and customer service skills to deal with inquiries.
