Overview
At West Northants Council, it’s about our people and the opportunities we create together.
As a Communications Intern (12‑month FTC), you’ll kick‑start your career in a fast‑paced and creative communications environment, gaining valuable hands‑on experience while supporting the promotion of services that make a real difference to local communities.
You’ll work as part of our Communications Team and gain exposure to media relations, social media, marketing, internal communications and events.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone at the start of their career who is eager to learn, develop new skills and make a meaningful contribution within a supportive and collaborative team.
Responsibilities
- Support a variety of communications activities, drafting social media content, press releases, internal communications and digital content.
- Assist in the planning and execution of campaigns, events and newsletters.
- Monitor media coverage and build relationships with colleagues across the organisation.
- Help produce briefings and support the promotion of services that benefit local communities.
- Gain practical experience across multiple communication channels and develop a broad understanding of how communications support a large, complex organisation.
Qualifications
- Enthusiastic, creative and keen to build a career in communications.
- Strong writing skills with an eye for detail and confidence communicating with a wide range of people.
- Experience with storytelling, social media or creating engaging content, through education, voluntary work or personal projects.
- Ability to learn quickly, take initiative, and work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organisational skills, a positive attitude and a willingness to embrace new challenges.
Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of £26,083 to £26,495 per annum, 37 working hours per week, and a full‑time contract.
