Based in the beautiful Scottish Borders (circa 1 hour south of Edinburgh), GRW Talent's client is a well-established global manufacturer providing solutions to the power, telecom and data centre markets. The group is undergoing extensive growth and change right now, and they are currently looking to recruit a Shift Maintenance Engineer.
Reporting into the Engineering Lead, the Maintenance Shift Engineer is responsible for performing scheduled Preventive Maintenance, responding promptly to equipment breakdowns, and maintaining accurate maintenance records. Working closely with the Plant Leader and using the CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System), this role ensures that machinery and systems operate safely, efficiently, and reliably to support optimal production output.
- Preventive Maintenance - carry out routine, scheduled maintenance tasks on machinery and plant equipment, following established PM schedules.
- Collaboration with Plant Leader to coordinate maintenance activities around production demands & communicate about upcoming PM tasks potential downtime.
- Update the CMMS promptly with completed work orders, spare parts usage, and any new asset information and maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities.
You should have a recognised engineering qualification and/or time-served apprenticeship in Mechanical, Electrical, or Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineering with experience working as a Maintenance Engineer (or similar) in a manufacturing or industrial environment. Familiarity with PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics, or other relevant systems is beneficial. You’ll need to be competent in root cause analysis, fault-finding, and repair techniques with a solid understanding of predictive and preventive maintenance philosophies.
In this role you’ll need to have flexibility to work a 3 on, 3 off rotating shift pattern (3 sets of dayshift, then 3 sets of nightshift, 12 hour shift pattern, 6am till 6pm then 6pm till 6am).
