Grw Talent’s client has a rich history making textiles in Scotland since the late 1800s. Today, they are a vibrant fast growing international industrial and technical textiles company with production bases in Scotland, USA and China. The company and partners are currently exploring options to consolidate two production facilities and a warehouse operation into Dundee. To help facilitate this growth, the business has spent considerable time and effort improving the quality, HSE and environmental standards and culture across the group.
The Quality Assurance Manager will be capable of moving from fully “hands‑on” through to strategic level work and be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing quality control systems and processes designed to ensure continuous production of high‑quality products and effective processes. You will manage a small team of quality professionals and work closely with production, engineering, and management teams.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Be visible and a leader / figurehead for Quality in‑house.
- Conduct regular quality assessments, including audits and inspections, to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to integrate quality control measures throughout the manufacturing process, from product development to final delivery.
- Establish data collection from quality testing and inspections to identify trends, resolve issues, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure the quality of raw materials and components, including conducting supplier audits and evaluations.
- Manage the resolution of quality issues, including customer complaints, by conducting root cause analyses and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Prepare and present quality reports to senior management, highlighting performance metrics, improvement opportunities, and strategic recommendations.
- Create, deploy and lead a Quality Strategy to deliver the company’s ambitions in new demanding sectors such as aerospace and automotive.
The successful candidate is educated to degree standard in a technical, scientific, engineering or manufacturing related discipline. You are a proven senior quality professional (Quality Manager, Quality Assurance Manager, Head of Quality). Candidates will need to come from a production / ISO 9001/14001 environment that preaches best in class quality assurance. We would be especially keen to hear from candidates who have worked in regulated environments including, aerospace, automotive, electronics, defence, pharmaceuticals or biotechnology. A good appreciation for applying modern lean and CI quality assurance tools is taken as a given. Candidates need to still enjoy being hands on and “walking the floor.”
