Join The Growth Company's Justice Services as a Finance, Benefit and Debt Advisor and help people rebuild their lives. You'll work directly with individuals in the community, many facing real financial pressure, guiding them through debt issues, benefit entitlements, and the money-management skills that give them a fresh start. Your support reduces stress, boosts stability, and removes financial barriers that can hold people back during probation or after release. This is a hands-on role where your advice genuinely shapes someone's rehabilitation journey. The Finance, Benefit and Debt service takes a holistic approach, tackling the financial challenges that often stand in the way of successful community integration. This is a part-time role of ***** hours per week (£13,750 per annum). This role has an element of in-reach into HMP Millsike. Travel is required between York and Selby for this role, so access to a car and Full Driving Licence is essential.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support people with personal finance challenges, debt issues, benefit claims, and referrals to specialist services.
  • Work with individuals in custody to tackle benefit and debt problems, offer budgeting guidance, and liaise with creditors, utilities, banks, and credit unions.
  • Build strong, positive relationships and create clear, achievable action plans tailored to each person's learning style, whether face-to-face or over the phone.
  • Track progress, follow up on agreed actions, and advocate for additional support such as food banks or credit unions.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Competent with MI systems, spreadsheets, diaries, and email.
  • Willing to travel and adapt.
  • Confident and self-motivated.
Skills Required:
  • Background in Finance, Benefits, or Debt advice.
  • Experience supporting ex-offenders or people facing significant barriers.
  • Strong track record in training, guidance, advice, or counselling roles.
  • Solid understanding of debt issues and everyday personal finance challenges.
  • Proven ability to hit performance targets in fast-paced environments.
  • Aware of the welfare-to-work sector and the needs of its customers.
  • Knowledge of training, education, and employment pathways.
