The Growth Company’s (GC) Justice Services team have an exciting new opportunity for a Finance Benefit and Debt (FBD) advisor to deliver high performance levels, compliant activity and customer service standards on the CRS FBD service and support the Service Manager to ensure that service and business objectives are achieved. Through the delivery of a range of interventions for offenders with financial issues, (on both a one-to-one and group basis), support the resolution of these issues via financial capacity building, personal finance management awareness, reflective spending skills, the establishment of debt repayment plans and provision of help to access state benefits or third sector support. At The Growth Company, we deliver to the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) Finance, Benefits and Debt Service, supporting individuals in prison and on probation to improve their financial wellbeing. We provide tailored support to help people manage money, access benefits, and address debt, enabling greater stability and removing financial barriers to rehabilitation.
Please note this role will require travel between Northallerton, Harrogate Probation and in‑reach delivery to HMP Milsike, it is advised that you currently hold a UK Driving Licence and own a vehicle.
Key Responsibilities- Managing participant caseloads — supporting individuals in both community and prison settings to progress towards accessing benefits and meeting claim responsibilities.
- Resolving complex debt issues — identifying financial barriers, negotiating with creditors and establishing sustainable repayment and rent‑arrears plans.
- Providing budgeting and financial guidance — helping participants build confidence in managing personal finances, spending habits and day‑to‑day budgeting.
- Liaising with key stakeholders — maintaining communication with landlords, utilities, banks, credit unions and other agencies to support positive financial outcomes.
- Building strong, motivational relationships — enabling participants to make informed decisions and co‑developing tailored action plans that reflect their needs and learning styles.
- Delivering flexible, multi‑channel support — offering interventions face‑to‑face, digitally, via video or by telephone to ensure accessibility and engagement.
- Monitoring progress and ensuring follow‑through — tracking participant actions, ensuring timely responses to correspondence and maintaining accurate, compliant records.
- Collaborating with probation services — working closely with National Probation Service officers and contributing to performance targets and service improvements.
