The Growth Company’s (GC) Education and Skills team have an exciting new opportunity for a Maths and English Tutor to plan, deliver and assess effective Functional Skills and GCSE lessons to maximise learner progress and achievement.

Qualifications
- Teaching qualification (Level 4+).
- Maths and English L2 – (GCSE or Functional Skills).
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver dynamic, inclusive lessons that inspire learner engagement and challenge.
- Conduct initial and ongoing assessments to tailor learning pathways.
- Personalise teaching using IA outcomes and holistic learner data.
- Promote high expectations to build confidence and aspirations.
- Manage classroom behaviour to foster a safe and supportive learning environment.
- Track progress and identify learners needing intervention for rapid improvement.
- Deliver impactful teaching across centres, groups, and individual learners.
- Champion safeguarding, equality, diversity, and health & safety policies.
About You
- Recent experienceteaching Maths and/or English to post-16 learners(e.g. in a training provider, college setting).
- Experience preparing learners for Entry 3 – Level 2, including Functional Skills, GCSE and GCSE resits.
- Evidence of up-to-date knowledgeof post-16 curriculum requirements, assessment methods, and learner needs.
- Passionate about empowering learners of all backgrounds.
- A reflective practitioner with a drive for personal and team development.
- Resilient and flexible, with a creative approach to challenges.
Skills Required
- Relevant subject-specific and teaching qualifications with a record of CPD (Continuing professional development).
- Proven success teaching Functional Skills and GCSE to disengaged learners.
- Skilled in planning and assessing for progress within challenging environments.
- Effective collaborator with strong time management and adaptability across sites.
