An opportunity has arisen for an Investor Relations Director to join MIDAS, Greater Manchester’s award-winning inward investment agency. MIDAS promotes the region as a top destination for business, job creation, and investment, supporting companies with expert advice and services.
The Director of Investor Relations reports directly to the Managing Director and is responsible for driving the successful development and delivery of both domestic and international inward investment into Greater Manchester. This role entails representing MIDAS and Greater Manchester in engagements with senior leaders across local, national, and global organisations and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working closely with the Managing Director, Senior Leadership, and Marketing Manchester to contribute to the development of MIDAS strategic engagement with the public and private sector in Greater Manchester (GM), the account management of key foreign-owned companies, engagement with key markets, and the development of MIDAS’ approach to strategic capital investment.
- Manage the marketing and activity budget with the existing team, ensuring that activity is well planned and evaluated and that financial guidelines and processes are adhered to so that the budget can be delivered in accordance with the business plan extracting maximum value for money.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team to meet targets within budget, overseeing capital investment attraction, real estate and developer engagement, business development aligned with the Local Industrial Strategy, and account management for foreign-owned businesses in Greater Manchester, including the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) Key Account Management programme.
- Work with key intermediaries including the Department for Business and Trade and Office for Investment, and wider partners to optimize the effectiveness of business development activity and opportunities, encouraging joint working where efficiency and mutual benefit are possible. This includes driving MIDAS’ business engagement interaction with GM universities.
- Work with the Business Development Director to manage the project pipeline, including MIDAS’ interaction with the DBT national pipeline, ensuring that the pipeline is accurate, to inform SMT and wider KPI reporting.
- Utilise the market intelligence gained in international business engagement activity to ensure MIDAS’ products, services and propositions remain competitive as well as the Greater Manchester ‘product’ thus creating a climate that supports business investment/expansion and knowledge transfer/growth.
- Represent MIDAS at meetings and events, both internal and external as required, projecting a positive image of MIDAS and adhering to MIDAS’ core values and policies.

- Skilled negotiator, influencing a wide range of public and private organisations at senior levels.
- Working in or with public sector organisations in a commercially focused way.
- Creating and managing large-scale B2B promotion/marketing campaigns.
