About This Opportunity

A fantastic role is available at Wymbs Engineering who are looking for an Apprentice Welder. Working in their busy workshop, you will learn valuable skills in metal manufacturing and finishing, and work towards a level 3 qualification.

Normal Day Would Include

  • Read and interpret drawings to ensure accurate production
  • Measuring and marking out cutting and bending lines
  • Double-checking design specifications before commencing with cutting work
  • Constructing base templates if necessary
  • Using a variety of welding methods to include TIG, MIG and MMA.
  • Using hand fitting tools and techniques.
  • Fabricating and constructing metal components
  • Grinding and finishing completed products
  • Understand Health and Safety procedures and apply to their working environment
  • Learn how to use measuring tools (electronic and manual) to take precise measurements for cutting and shaping
  • Select appropriate tools and settings for a given task
  • Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment
  • Maintains a safe and clean workstation
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed. Eventually working independently and part of a team

What you should have to apply

GCSE grade C/4 or above in English and maths is preferred

Skills

  • Previous work experience preferred
  • Previous experience in Engineering or Qualification is ideal but not mandatory
  • Good organisational skills and ability to work on own initiative
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good time management skills
  • Willingness to undertake any training provided
