Role Overview

Horizon Care and Education is seeking an English Teacher for Grove Road School in Sutton.

The role involves delivering high‑quality education to pupils aged 11‑19, many of whom have Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and autism.

The position also includes teaching Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging English lessons for students aged 11‑19.
  • Incorporate PSHE content into the curriculum as required.
  • Support and differentiate learning for pupils with SEMH and additional needs.
  • Collaborate with Headteachers, SENCos, and the therapeutic team to provide tailored support.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and therapeutic training (SHINE programme).

Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) or equivalent.
  • Current safeguarding and child‑protection knowledge and qualifications.
  • Experience working with students with SEMH and additional needs.
  • Strong classroom management, planning and organisational skills.
  • Passion for raising standards, energy, initiative, and vision.
