About The Groucho Club

The Groucho exists to keep Soho’s artistic, liberal spirit burning bright, and to champion London’s role as a creative powerhouse on the world stage.

A joyful, generous and welcoming space for ideas, creative life and the occasional late night.

Born in 1985 as the antidote to the cloistered gentlemen’s clubs of London’s Mayfair, The Groucho Club was founded on a radical idea: that good company is the kind chosen by ideas rather than status, that emerging voices belong in the same room as established ones, and that culture is made through conversation, collision and curiosity.

Forty years on, that belief still drives everything we do.

We exist to facilitate the conversations that shape culture now and next, to back the people making it, and to keep Soho generous, welcoming and alive to creative possibility.

We host, we don’t serve.

Members and guests are people we know, not names on a list.

Chef de Partie

We are looking for a talented and driven Chef de Partie who brings skill, leadership, and a passion for exceptional food.

This role is perfect for someone who takes pride in running their section, maintaining the highest standards, and supporting the development of junior chefs while delivering consistently outstanding dishes.

As Chef de Partie, you'll play a vital role in the kitchen operation, taking ownership of your designated section and ensuring it runs smoothly throughout preparation and service.

You'll work closely with the Sous Chef and Executive Chef, helping to create memorable dining experiences through quality, consistency, and teamwork.

Why is this so important?

Because every dish served reflects the standards and creativity of The Groucho Club.

Your organisation, expertise, and attention to detail will help ensure every member and guest enjoys an exceptional culinary experience.

  • What You’ll Be Doing
  • Running and supervising your designated kitchen section to the standards set by the Executive Chef and wider management team.
  • Ensuring all preparation is completed to a high standard and that your section is fully ready before each service.
  • Preparing, cooking, and presenting dishes with precision, consistency, and attention to detail.
  • Maintaining quality control over ingredients, stock, and prepared food within your section.
  • Managing stock levels, assisting with ordering, and minimising waste through effective stock rotation and control.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised, and compliant workstation, including storage areas and refrigeration units.
  • Supporting the Sous Chef and Executive Chef in delivering exceptional food quality and smooth kitchen operations.
  • Delegating tasks effectively to Demi Chefs de Partie, Commis Chefs, and apprentices.
  • Coaching and supporting junior team members in their development and day-to-day performance.
  • Ensuring all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards are consistently followed.
  • Contributing positively to team culture and collaborating across all kitchen sections to deliver seamless service.
  • Leading by example through professionalism, teamwork, and a strong work ethic.
  • What Makes You a Great Fit
  • Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or a strong Demi Chef de Partie ready to take the next step.
  • Excellent culinary skills and a passion for preparing high-quality food.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a section independently.
  • Proven ability to perform consistently in a fast-paced, high-pressure kitchen environment.
  • Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting the development of junior chefs.
  • Positive, proactive, and self-motivated approach to work.
  • Open to feedback and committed to continuous learning and development.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and willing to support the wider kitchen operation when needed.
  • 48 hours per week across 5 days (7 shifts a week)
  • Why You’ll Love It Here
  • Competitive salary.
  • 28 days holiday including bank holidays, pro-rata.
  • Wagestream to support your financial wellbeing.
  • Nutritious meals made by our team.
  • Pension scheme.
  • Employee Assistance Programme with Hospitality Action.

• Refer a Friend Scheme –up to £1000 to share with your friend!

  • And all the other things that get us excited such as staff parties, food and cocktail tasting and working alongside London’s best members.
