This is a full-time position. The Groucho Club is looking for a Barback to be part of our Bar team. Our next Barback needs to have proactive energy, a positive can-do attitude and friendly personality alongside all the other skills that make you a top employee. Why is this so important? Responsibilities:

  • Cuts fruit to specification and prepares all condiment caddies.
  • Collects trash from all outlets throughout shift, as well as wiping down walls behind bin containers.
  • Distributes clean bar towels, as well as collects soiled ones and discards them in the appropriate place.
  • Collects all excess glasses from bars and restocks them in their appropriate outlets, along with retrieving bar glassware from dish areas.
  • Organises and cleans coolers and storage areas to specification.
  • When assisting the bartenders with orders, uses suggestive selling/up-selling practices.
  • Approaches members and welcomes them upon arrival.
  • Uses member names during interactions and remembers their preferences.
  • Promptly and professionally handles guest issues and communicates problems and concerns to management.
  • Continuously monitors bar to ensure that all guests are receiving beverage service in a timely manner.
  • Attends and satisfactorily completes all required training as assigned and required.
  • Responsible for ensuring a consistent flow of services to members and cocktail waiters by assisting bartenders with their job functions.
  • Ensures that ashtrays, bar and floors are clean and used glassware is removed from bar tops.
  • Checks glass washers for proper chemical mixture and volume.
  • Maintains soap and towels at hand sinks in all bars.
  • Receives and delivers all products to appropriate outlet and stocks.
  • This role is highly physical and requires regular lifting, carrying, and moving of stock and deliveries between multiple floors. The Club operates across four floors, so candidates must be comfortable with heavy lifting and have the stamina to manage an active, fast-paced environment.

Skills:

  • Previous experience in similar roles preferred.
  • Must have an outgoing, confident and bubbly personality.
  • Be smart and well presented at all times.
  • Must have the ability to maintain professional self-control when dealing with uncommon and challenging circumstances.
  • You must have good communication skills.
  • Proficiency to carry out multiple assignments concurrently is desired.
  • Capability to adapt to changes in the environment is desired.
  • Strong physical ability and endurance to handle heavy lifting and manual tasks across multiple floors.
