This is a full-time, term-time only position (32.5 hours per week, 39 weeks per year), and we are open to discussing flexible working options e.g. a 0.8 contract.

About the role

As our School Operations Manager, you will be a key member of the senior team - trusted by the Principal, relied on by colleagues and connected with Lift Schools' regional and central teams. You will work in collaboration with a very skilled school admin team to oversee every aspect of school operations, from HR and finance to estates, IT, compliance, and health and safety. It is a broad role that touches on every part of school life - and ensures that our staff can focus on what matters most: delivering an excellent education.

What you will do:

  • Be the conduit between the school and regional teams, ensuring smooth processes and strong communication
  • Lead on HR administration, including recruitment logistics, absence tracking, payroll updates and safeguarding checks
  • Oversee school finances: placing orders, tracking budgets, handling banking and liaising with the central finance team
  • Manage premises and estates through line management of site staff and coordination with contractors
  • Act as the main point of contact for IT issues, maintenance, and digital planning
  • Ensure the school meets all compliance expectations in health and safety, data protection and policy updates
  • Oversee catering, cleaning, marketing, school events, trips, wraparound care.
  • Lead the front office team and manage internal communications, daily cover, training records and staff induction

You will report to the Principal and sit alongside the Senior Leadership Team, contributing directly to the operational effectiveness of the school and its long-term goals. This role helps deliver Lift Schools' mission: that every child receives an excellent education, in every classroom, every day.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience in school operations, business management, or administrative leadership
  • Brings working knowledge of HR, finance, estates or IT - and the confidence to lead others
  • Has at least Level 2 qualifications in English and maths, and ideally a Level 3 or higher qualification
  • Is calm, organised and flexible - with the ability to plan ahead and adapt when needed
  • It is desirable (but not essential) that you have worked in a school or hold a School Business Professional qualification
