The Role
As Technical Due Diligence Lead, you'll own and lead technical due diligence activities across a diverse portfolio of renewable energy transactions. You'll act as the technical authority within the business, ensuring high-quality assessments while helping translate engineering expertise into AI-enabled products that deliver greater efficiency and value to clients.
Working closely with product, engineering, commercial and data science teams, you'll have the opportunity to influence how AI is applied to real-world renewable energy transactions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead technical due diligence projects across renewable energy assets, primarily wind, solar and battery energy storage systems.
- Manage the end-to-end due diligence process for acquisitions, financings and portfolio transactions.
- Review and assess technical documentation, engineering designs, construction progress, operational performance and project risks.
- Produce and review high-quality technical due diligence reports for investors, lenders and developers.
- Advise internal stakeholders and clients on technical risks, mitigation strategies and investment considerations.
- Work closely with AI and product teams to embed engineering knowledge into innovative digital tools and workflows.
- Help define best practice methodologies and standardise technical assessment processes.
- Build trusted relationships with clients, investors, developers and technical partners across Europe.
- Mentor junior technical professionals as the business grows.
About You
You'll bring a strong background in renewable energy technical advisory together with the ambition to help build something genuinely innovative.
We're looking for someone with:
- Significant experience leading technical due diligence assignments within a recognised engineering consultancy or technical advisory business.
- Extensive experience supporting renewable energy transactions across the UK and/or European markets.
- Strong technical knowledge of renewable energy projects, ideally including solar PV, onshore or offshore wind and battery storage.
- Experience working with investors, lenders, developers or infrastructure funds.
- Excellent understanding of project development, engineering, construction and operational risk.
- Outstanding report writing and stakeholder management skills.
- A degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- The ability to thrive in a high-growth, technology-driven environment where innovation and collaboration are central to success.
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation.
- Experience across multiple European markets.
- Exposure to data analytics, digital tools or AI-enabled technical workflows.
- Commercial awareness and experience supporting business development.
