Our client is a privately backed renewable energy investment platform focused on acquiring, developing and investing into European solar, wind and battery storage assets. The business is active across direct asset-level investment, platform growth and fund-style activity, with a growing European portfolio and pipeline. As the platform scales, they are looking to appoint a senior investment professional who can help lead investment activity, bring structure to the investment process and support the continued build-out of the platform.
The Investment Director will play a senior role in originating, assessing, executing and managing renewable energy investment opportunities across Europe. This position requires someone who can combine strong investment judgement with a practical understanding of how renewable energy assets are developed, contracted, built and optimised. The successful candidate will be expected to operate across both strategic and execution-focused workstreams, helping to build the investment function as the business continues to grow.
Key responsibilities:- Lead the assessment and execution of renewable energy investment opportunities across solar, wind and BESS.
- Originate and evaluate new opportunities across target European markets.
- Oversee financial modelling, valuation and investment analysis.
- Lead transaction processes, due diligence and investment committee preparation.
- Work closely with technical, engineering, development, legal and commercial teams.
- Challenge assumptions around grid, PPAs, EPC, supply chain, construction, asset delivery and operating performance.
- Support strategic decision-making across both asset-level and platform-level activity.
- Help build and refine investment processes, frameworks and governance.
- Mentor and guide more junior investment professionals.
- Support senior leadership with fundraising, capital deployment, portfolio strategy and wider platform development where required.
The successful candidate will likely have:
- 13+ years’ experience across renewable energy, infrastructure investment, project finance, M&A, corporate finance or a related field.
- A strong track record in renewable energy or infrastructure transactions.
- Strong financial, commercial and strategic judgement.
- Ability to lead investment processes from assessment through execution.
- Practical understanding of asset-level value drivers across solar, wind, BESS, grid, PPAs, EPC, supply chain and project delivery.
- Experience working with technical and commercial teams.
- Ability to bring structure, discipline and process to a growing investment platform.
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and willingness to operate in a hands-on environment.
