We are currently partnering with a rapidly growing UK renewable energy company that is playing a key role in supporting homeowners and businesses in their transition to cleaner, more sustainable energy solutions. With a strong expertise in solar technology and a genuine commitment to sustainability, the business provides a fully integrated end-to-end service, covering consultation, bespoke system design, installation, and ongoing customer support.
This is a hands-on, field-based role for a technically qualified electrician responsible for maintaining and enforcing high installation standards across the group. You will travel across regional subsidiaries inspecting completed installations, supporting and coaching installation teams, investigating defects and callbacks, and ensuring all systems meet the company’s quality standards. You will also lead technical investigations relating to customer escalations, disputes, or complaints that could impact regulatory accreditations. Working closely with the Compliance Manager, you will provide the technical findings, site evidence, and field assessments needed to support the wider quality and compliance function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and manage the post-installation quality control (QC) process, including inspection standards, sampling methods, sign-off criteria, and remediation requirements.
- Conduct regular on-site inspections across all regional subsidiaries, assessing both electrical compliance and overall workmanship standards.
- Define and uphold installation quality standards, ensuring consistency across all subsidiaries, crews, and projects.
- Investigate installation defects, customer callbacks, and technical issues, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions where required.
- Analyse recurring quality issues and provide actionable feedback to installation teams, training programmes, and operational leadership.
- Maintain installer performance records and work closely with General Managers to coach underperforming installers or recommend removal from approved installer lists where necessary.
- Lead on-site investigations relating to escalated customer complaints, warranty disputes, and technical or workmanship-related incidents.
- Act as a senior escalation point for support cases requiring technical site visits or expert assessment.
- Provide technical findings, field evidence, and site assessments to support the wider compliance and accreditation function.
- Work closely with the Compliance Manager to support audits, investigations, accreditation requirements, and regulatory compliance activities.
- Ensure installation standards are consistently maintained and proactively address any risks that could impact customer satisfaction, compliance, or accreditation status.
Key Requirements:
- Qualified electrician with relevant certifications (e.g. 18th Edition, City & Guilds 2391 or equivalent) and strong technical knowledge of solar PV, battery storage, and electrical systems.
- Proven experience within quality control, technical assurance, site inspections, or a similar role within the solar, electrical, or wider renewable energy industry.
- Strong technical credibility with installation teams, with the ability to assess installation quality on-site, identify defects, and advise on electrical standards and industry best practice.
- Experience investigating technical issues, defects, customer complaints, or workmanship disputes, with the ability to document findings clearly and accurately.
- Comfortable working across multiple sites and building effective working relationships with operational and site-based teams without direct line management responsibility.
- Analytical and methodical approach to problem-solving, with strong root-cause investigation and evidence-based decision-making skills.
- Willingness to travel regularly across the South East to regional offices and customer sites as required.
