The Green Recruitment Company is hiring for a QS-led Commercial Contracts Manager for a long-term contract in the Energy Sector in Newcastle, England. This position is ideal for a self-starting QS with deep NEC/FIDIC experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the PM & CPM in identifying, evaluating and assessing risks & opportunities.
- Take ownership and administer subcontracts on a day-to-day basis.
- Manage subcontract/supplier final account settlements.
- Ensure timely submission of contractual notifications.
- Provide timely updates to the PM & CPM on the accurate financial status of Project subcontractors/key supplier accounts.
- Attend Project meetings with Site, Customer, and stakeholders.
- Manage Project Change Management and Claims related to both the main Contract and subcontractors/key suppliers.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with the wider Project team, providing contractual advice for successful Project execution.
- Support the procurement department by advising on and drafting contractual terms and conditions for Project Subcontract work packages.
- Liaise with the legal team, reviewing and evaluating terms and conditions aligned to main customer contracts.
- Identify, evaluate and follow up on all events relevant for incoming and outgoing claims/compensation events.
- Collect, prepare, analyse and manage relevant claim/variation particulars for submissions to/from Customers and subcontractors/key suppliers.
- Provide contractual advice and support to Project teams regarding effective execution of customer contracts and subcontracts.
- Pursue and/or defend incoming and outgoing claims, including collation of relevant project records and documentation.
- Establish and substantiate cause and effect necessary to demonstrate entitlement to quantum and/or additional time under the Contract.
- Build positive relationships with Customers.
- Proactively seek to implement and assist with digital solutions to aid efficient execution of Project duties.
- Develop and improve contract and claim management processes and strategies.
Requirements:
- Experience in Quantity Surveying/Contract Management and/or commercial project management/business administration.
- Knowledge and familiarity with various Construction and Engineering Forms of Contract, particularly extensive experience with NEC and FIDIC.
- Experience in project budgeting and financial management of risk, opportunities and claims.
- Chartered Quantity Surveyor (RICS/CICES) would be advantageous.
- Commercially competent with an understanding of contract law principles.
- Competent in working collaboratively and cooperatively with the project team.
