Overview
As a Process Engineer in a fast-growing biogas developer, you will support process engineering and design delivery across large anaerobic digestion and biomethane projects. You will work with the technical team to verify mass/energy balances, PFDs, P&IDs, and equipment data, while identifying risks and optimisation opportunities. Your impact spans design assurance, site layouts, and collaboration with EPCs and Owners’ Engineers to drive efficient, scalable biogas solutions. This role offers hands-on influence over process improvements and project execution at scale.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review mass and energy balances
- Develop and review block flow diagrams, PFDs and P&IDs
- Line-by-line reviews of P&IDs against PFDs, layouts and project requirements
- Review equipment lists, valve lists and pump calculations (sizing, duties, materials, conditions)
- Assess feedstock baseline documentation, testing methodologies and process assumptions
- Identify gas losses, data gaps and potential performance risks
- Support assessments of alternative process technologies, including efficiency and OPEX drivers
- Review site layouts and CAD models for constructability and operability risks
- Prepare and maintain technical comment trackers and design review packs
- Coordinate technical comments across stakeholders and track actions to completion
- Maintain deliverables trackers and technical agendas for design coordination
- Support technical review and progress meetings with EPC contractors and Owner's Engineers
Key requirements
- Degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or a related discipline
- Experience within biogas/anaerobic digestion preferred
- Relevant experience in waste-to-energy, oil & gas, chemical processing or other process plant environments
