We are working exclusively with a leading European renewable energy IPP specialising in the development, construction and operation of large-scale solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) projects. With a multi-GW portfolio spanning the UK and Europe, the business is playing a significant role in the energy transition and has the backing of a major global investment platform. As the business continues to expand its portfolio, they are looking to appoint a Senior Contracts Manager to take ownership of the commercial and contractual position across major renewable energy projects. The OpportunityThis is a broad, hands-on contracts role covering the full project lifecycle — from pre-contract negotiations through construction, commissioning and completion. You'll work closely with Procurement, Legal, Engineering, Construction, Finance and Asset Management to ensure projects are commercially protected and contractual obligations are effectively managed. Key responsibilitiesLead the commercial and contractual negotiation of EPC, grid works, BESS supply, module supply and O&M/LTSA contractsDevelop negotiating positions, risk allocation and contractual strategies alongside internal stakeholdersManage contracts from tender clarification through execution and into constructionAct as the key point of contractual advice on major project agreementsManage variations, change orders, claims and extensions of time (EOT)Assess contractor entitlement, contractual notices and supporting evidenceManage liquidated damages, performance guarantees, acceptance processes and warrantiesDraft and manage formal contractual notices, reservations of rights and correspondenceMaintain claims, variations, obligations and key-date registersMonitor contractual and commercial exposure, including forecast final cost and claims exposureSupport the resolution of disputes, including mediation and adjudication where requiredWork with external legal counsel, lenders' advisers and other project stakeholdersHelp develop contracts processes, templates, governance and best practice across the businessWhat we're looking forWe're keen to speak with experienced contracts and commercial professionals who have worked on major construction, infrastructure, energy or renewable energy projects. Ideally, you'll have:7+ years' experience managing and negotiating construction contractsStrong experience with EPC contracts and/or major infrastructure projectsWorking knowledge of FIDIC and English law contractual principlesStrong understanding of claims, variations, EOTs, LDs, notices and contractual time barsExperience negotiating with EPC contractors, suppliers and O&M counterpartiesThe ability to understand both the contractual and commercial implications of project issuesStrong drafting and negotiation skillsExperience managing contractual risk and resolving claims commerciallyStrong numerical and commercial awareness, including cost and claims exposureDiscipline(s): Trading and Procurement, Renewable Energy, Grid and StorageJob type: Permanent
