Job Description
We are seeking an experienced HVDC Project Manager to oversee the construction and commissioning of a high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission system for a renewable energy project in the UK. As a freelance Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing the project from start to finish, ensuring that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to quality standards. You will be the main point of contact for the client, contractors, and subcontractors, and will be responsible for ensuring that the project is delivered on time and within budget. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and experienced professional to contribute to the growth of renewable energy projects in the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the construction and commissioning of the HVDC transmission system for the renewable energy project, ensuring that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to quality standards
Manage the project from start to finish, including coordination of contractors and subcontractors, tracking progress, and resolving issues
Ensure that the project is delivered on time and within budget, including monitoring project expenses and reporting on progress to the project team and management
Maintain strong relationships with the client, contractors, and subcontractors, ensuring that all parties are meeting the project\’s requirements and expectations
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that project schedules are met and projects are delivered within budget
Conduct regular audits of the construction and commissioning processes to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and other relevant standards
Manage the documentation related to the construction and commissioning activities, ensuring that all records are accurate, complete, and up-to-date
Participate in project meetings and provide regular updates on project activities and issues
Qualifications:
At least 8 years of experience in HVDC project management, preferably in the renewable energy industry in the UK
Knowledge of relevant regulations and procedures related to HVDC transmission systems in the renewable energy industry
Demonstrated ability to manage and lead a team of contractors and subcontractors
Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Fluency in English (both written and verbal)
Ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, often under tight deadlines and changing priorities
Education and Certifications:
Bachelor\’s degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy, or a related field is preferred
Certification in project management/health and safety
Working Conditions:
This is a freelance position for the duration of the renewable energy project, expected to be 12-18 months in length
Work is conducted on-site at the renewable energy project, with some work in an office setting
Work schedules may vary and require weekend or overtime work, as needed
