Location: Hailsham (Full Time in Office) Up to £80,000 base (room for flexibility) + bonus + benefits

The company delivers residential and commercial renewable energy solutions, including solar PV, battery storage, heating technologies, and ongoing maintenance and servicing. The General Manager will oversee all aspects of the business, including solar, heating, maintenance, servicing, and commercial operations. This role is responsible for project scheduling, team leadership, client satisfaction, financial performance, and the coordination of installation, service, and maintenance activities across both residential and commercial customers.

This position requires a hands-on leader who can balance strategic vision with operational execution in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, while ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and customer experience.

  • Manage day-to-day operations across all departments, including sales, installations, heating, service & maintenance, and administration.
  • Oversee scheduling, logistics, and workflow of installation, heating, and service crews to ensure projects and call-outs are completed on time and within budget.
  • Ensure effective delivery of planned maintenance, reactive service work, and warranty support for residential and commercial customers.
  • Maintain quality control and compliance with industry standards, certifications, health & safety regulations, and company policies.
  • Coordinate commercial project delivery, ensuring smooth handover from sales to operations and ongoing aftercare support.
  • Lead, coach, and develop technicians, heating engineers, service and maintenance teams, office staff, and subcontractors.
  • Build a strong performance culture focused on safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and efficiency.
  • Conduct regular team meetings, performance reviews, and skills development sessions.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new employees as the business scales.

Financial Management

  • Monitor cash flow, manage budgets, and oversee accounts payable and receivable across installation, heating, service, and maintenance functions.
  • Approve job costs, manage commercial margins, and control operational expenses.
  • Track performance against financial targets, including installation profitability, service contract revenue, and commercial project margins.
  • Act as the escalation point for high-level customer, service, and commercial client issues.
  • Maintain high levels of customer satisfaction through efficient project delivery, responsive service, and clear communication.
  • Support commercial sales and business development efforts with operational input, costings, and delivery planning.
  • Build long-term customer relationships through strong aftersales, maintenance, and service offerings.

Strategic Planning

  • Identify opportunities for business growth across solar, heating, service, maintenance, and commercial contracts.
  • Work closely with senior leadership on forecasting, business planning, and operational strategy to support the company's continued growth.

Demonstrated experience in an operational leadership or General Manager role. Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive operational excellence. Experience within renewable energy, solar, heating, electrical services, or a related technical installation environment is highly desirable. Commercially minded, with experience managing budgets, operational performance, and profitability. Comfortable using project management software, CRM systems, and cloud-based business tools. Full UK driving licence.
