A rapidly growing clean energy infrastructure group is seeking an
ESG Associate
to join its newly established team. This is a hands-on role where you will help shape and strengthen ESG practices across a diverse portfolio of renewable energy and energy transition businesses.
Backed by a major institutional fund, the organisation combines the pace of a high-growth environment with long-term stability. You will collaborate closely with a leading energy investment manager\'s ESG function to ensure portfolio companies align with required processes, standards, and investor expectations.
This is a unique opportunity to play a critical role in enabling the responsible management of energy infrastructure across multiple jurisdictions.
The Role
As the ESG Associate, you will support ESG development and performance across multiple portfolio companies β many of which are early in their ESG journey and keen to build meaningful, scalable strategies from the ground up.
You will work directly with senior leaders within portfolio companies to support ESG planning, build capability, improve reporting standards, and ensure alignment with fund requirements. Your work will span renewable energy infrastructure, development platforms, and innovative energy transition businesses.
Key Responsibilities
Build ESG capability across portfolio companies
β co-develop ESG strategies, set reporting expectations, and align activity with fund objectives.Improve ESG data and reporting quality
β collect, validate, and analyse ESG and carbon data to support disclosures (e.g., SFDR, EU Taxonomy) and investor reporting.Support climate risk assessments
β contribute to physical and transition risk assessments, scenario analysis, and stress testing.Integrate ESG into early-stage investments
β design scalable processes and frameworks for development platforms and new acquisitions.Assess ESG risks during the investment cycle
β review potential and existing investments for risk areas such as supply chain, human rights, and environmental compliance; track progress on ESG action plans.Provide cross-portfolio ESG support
β respond to queries, contribute to case studies, and advise on emerging ESG best practices.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
- Experience in ESG or sustainability, ideally within infrastructure, asset management, or private equity.
- Strong understanding of ESG frameworks such as SFDR, EU Taxonomy, and TCFD.
- Practical experience with carbon data, emissions methodologies, and ESG reporting.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, able to work with both early-stage businesses and internal investment teams.
- Highly organised, adaptable, and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Genuine passion for sustainability, energy transition, and the role of finance in enabling net zero.
Desirable:
- Experience developing ESG strategy in high-growth or early-stage businesses.
- Familiarity with renewable energy technologies and supply chain due diligence (including human rights considerations).
- Hands-on experience with ESG data systems or reporting tools.
