Job Description
Energy Procurement Consultant – Flexible Supply Contracts for C&I
About the Company:
My client is a globally recognised energy advisory business that partners with large commercial and industrial organizations to optimize energy procurement, manage risk, and achieve long-term decarbonization goals. Their work spans across Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific, with regional hubs supporting client strategy and execution. The European Energy Portfolio team plays a central role in delivering expert guidance on supply-side strategy and renewable integration.
The Role:
As an Energy Portfolio Advisor, you will be a key part of the international team delivering comprehensive energy management solutions. Your core responsibility will be to guide clients through complex energy markets – helping them mitigate risk, optimize costs, and integrate sustainable energy options into their procurement strategies. This includes managing energy sourcing processes, designing renewable purchasing frameworks, and advising on regulatory and market developments.
You will collaborate closely with internal analysts, regional consultants, and client stakeholders to deliver proactive, data-driven recommendations and long-term portfolio value. This is both a strategic and hands-on role suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead advisory engagements related to energy sourcing, hedging strategy, and commodity risk management.
- Monitor client energy portfolios and execute or advise on hedging transactions aligned with risk policies.
- Analyze forward price curves and market indicators to provide timely insights.
- Deliver regular briefings, market updates, and strategic recommendations via reports and presentations.
- Support the design and implementation of renewable energy purchasing strategies, including PPAs and green tariffs, as part of a wider risk-managed supply approach.
- Manage energy sourcing workflows: from supplier qualification and RFP creation to bid analysis and contracting.
- Contribute to annual budget planning by forecasting energy costs, analyzing non-commodity charges, and evaluating consumption patterns.
- Collaborate with internal tech teams to enhance reporting tools and digital platforms used by clients.
- Maintain strong client relationships across functions (procurement, sustainability, finance) and help drive account growth.
- Assist business development teams with technical input for proposals and pre-sales activities.
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in energy procurement, risk management, or portfolio analysis—ideally within the European markets.
- Solid understanding of electricity and/or gas markets, including financial instruments used for hedging.
- Strong analytical mindset and ability to interpret market data into actionable strategy.
- Familiarity with renewable energy contracting mechanisms (e.g., PPAs).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; other European languages are a plus.
- Comfortable working across time zones and as part of a cross-functional international team.
