Principal Electrical / EC&I Engineer

London / Edinburgh / Remote (UK-based) | Salary £80,000 + Excellent Benefits | Green Hydrogen / Renewables

We\’re seeking a Principal Electrical / EC&I Engineer to take a leading technical role in delivering cutting-edge green hydrogen infrastructure projects. You\’ll act as the technical authority across all electrical, control, and instrumentation design, playing a critical part in the UK\’s energy transition.

Key Responsibilities

⚡ Technical lead for electrical, control & instrumentation design

⚡ Manage grid connection processes & DNO compliance

⚡ Produce concept designs, specifications, and scopes of work

⚡ Ensure compliance with ATEX, functional safety, and QA standards

⚡ Support commissioning, FAT/SAT, and site inspections

⚡ Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the full project lifecycle

Your Experience

✅ 10+ years in heavy industry electrical engineering

✅ Strong HV/LV design expertise (33 kV+), switchgear, protection systems

✅ ATEX, Ex Zones, and functional safety knowledge (TUV FSE preferred)

✅ Power systems modelling (ETAP preferred), earthing & protection studies

✅ Control system integration (DCS, PLC, BPCS)

✅ Chartered Engineer or working toward chartership

Nice to Have

Experience in electrolyser or green hydrogen design

Project development & DNO engagement

COMPEX, HV certified, commissioning experience
