A growing energy and digital infrastructure business is seeking to appoint a PPA Manager to lead the structuring, valuation, negotiation and optimisation of power supply arrangements across a portfolio of battery storage and digital infrastructure assets. The role will have a particular focus on developing and structuring Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) and commercial energy supply arrangements for grid-connected and private-wire solutions supporting large-scale data centre developments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute energy procurement strategies across battery storage and data centre assets
- Structure and negotiate sleeve PPAs, physical and virtual PPAs, private-wire arrangements, behind-the-meter supply agreements and renewable energy contracts
- Develop and maintain valuation models for complex and bespoke PPA structures
- Identify opportunities to procure renewable power at scale and optimise energy delivery to data centre operations
- Develop strategies to minimise transmission and network costs through innovative asset configurations and market participation
- Support the commercial structuring of integrated grid park developments, including co-located generation, battery storage, flexible demand and data centre infrastructure
- Lead commercial negotiations with utilities, generators, developers, traders and other energy market counterparties
- Support negotiations with hyperscale and enterprise data centre customers regarding energy pricing and supply structures
- Monitor wholesale power markets, regulatory developments, grid reform and renewable energy market dynamics
- Assess wholesale market exposure and contribute to hedging and risk management strategies
- Act as the internal subject matter expert on power markets and energy commercialisation
- Work closely with legal, finance, technical and investment teams on transactions and strategic initiatives
Requirements
- 5β10 years' experience in energy markets, power trading, renewable energy procurement or infrastructure commercialisation
- Proven experience structuring and negotiating PPAs and complex electricity supply agreements
- Strong experience modelling and valuing PPA contracts, ideally including bespoke structures
- Strong understanding of wholesale power markets, transmission charging structures and renewable energy economics
- Experience with private wire, embedded networks, grid infrastructure or large industrial power users is highly desirable
- Experience working with data centres, hyperscalers, energy developers, utilities or infrastructure investors would be advantageous
- Strong commercial negotiation, analytical and stakeholder management capabilities
- Ability to operate independently and take ownership within a fast-paced, commercially focused environment
- Degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Energy, Mathematics or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
