One of the largest Energy Suppliers on the planet is looking for a Commercial Director (Net Zero) to lead in developing decarbonization strategies to support their clients across the manufacturing, industrial, corporate, retail, heritage, and transportation sectors. You will also line manage a team of Business Development Managers and Bid Managers.
Accountabilities:
- Support the creation of the growth strategy and marketing plan.
- Deliver allocated sales targets.
- Proactively build client relationships to maintain a strong pipeline and win rate.
- Lead large, complex (multi-service) bids to energy and business services clients.
- Ensure compliance with governance processes.
- Keep CRM system up to date and improve processes.
- Lead and develop a team to deliver sales targets.
- Support the marketing strategy for the sector to raise the firm's profile.
- Work with C-suite clients from various sectors to develop and deliver sustainability services aligned with their strategic direction.
- Collaborate with the Solutions Team to accurately price solutions that meet target margins.
- Build trusted relationships with clients, delivering strong advisory services and convictions.
- Manage routes to market, attend networking events, and nurture industry relationships to generate new business and raise profile.
- Keep stakeholders informed throughout the opportunity cycle.
Commercial Management:
- Work with the Solutions Team to develop technical requirements aligned with customer expectations.
- Collaborate with the Commercial Structurer and Manager to develop business cases and support financial queries.
- Articulate risks and benefits of opportunities to internal stakeholders and investment teams.
- Liaise with third-party funders to secure financing.
- Ensure client insights are incorporated into solutions.
- Provide clear direction to the Solutions Team on customer needs and improve opportunities through engagement.
- Identify poor solutions and propose innovations or improvements.
- Follow all pre-bid governance processes to obtain approval to proceed.
- Brief stakeholders on submission progress.
- Assemble and manage bid teams including SMEs, estimators, support staff, supply chain, and operations.
- Work with the finance team to challenge costs and produce compelling proposals.
- Lead opportunities to closure with clients financially and commercially.
Operational:
- Oversee handover to mobilisation and operational teams.
- Lead internal governance at BUCC, UK CC, and Group CC levels.
- Possess operational understanding of at least one core business area, such as facilities management.
- Know mobilisations and key processes governing financial, commercial, safety, and performance aspects.
- Identify operational improvements to enhance profitability and customer retention.
