Project Development Manager – Solar & BESS

Reporting to: Head of Development / Development Director
Role Overview
We are a UK-based Independent Power Producer (IPP) focused on developing, constructing and owning utility-scale solar PV and BESS projects .
We are seeking a Project Development Manager to lead projects from early-stage origination through to Ready-to-Build , managing the key land, planning, grid, technical and commercial workstreams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development of utility-scale solar and BESS projects from origination to construction readiness.
- Identify and manage key project risks, budgets, programs and development milestones.
- Manage relationships with landowners, planning authorities, DNOs/TOs, consultants and other stakeholders .
- Lead land acquisition, planning, environmental and grid connection processes.
- Coordinate technical studies, site assessments, layouts and project optimisation.
- Support project financial modelling, investment cases and commercial assessments.
- Manage external consultants and multidisciplinary project teams.
- Support procurement, financing, due diligence and transition into construction.
- Monitor UK planning, grid and energy-market developments relevant to the portfolio.
Requirements
- Experience developing UK utility-scale renewable energy or infrastructure projects .
- Strong experience in solar PV and/or BESS development.
- Good understanding of UK planning and grid connection processes.
- Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercially minded with the ability to assess project viability and risks.
- Experience taking projects through to Ready-to-Build is highly desirable.
- Existing UK renewable energy, land, planning or grid network relationships would be advantageous.
