Description: Directly accountable for driving production across a thriving 10Ha site, acting as the go-to contact for all growing operations while executing the company's strategic vision. Championing glasshouse performance alongside the Operations Manager, with hands-on leadership across climate control, irrigation systems, and cutting-edge greenhouse infrastructure to deliver exceptional results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible together with the Growing Director for establishing, implementing, and directing the mission, vision of the organisation and strategy.
- Responsible together with the General Manager and Operation Manager to ensure best practices are followed inside the greenhouse.
- Ensure deviations from the crop and business plan are identified and adjustments are made if necessary.
- Climate control, irrigation control, IPM involvement.
- Contribute to annual cropping plans together with Growing Director.
- Register short- and medium-term crop records and the crop development; (day, and week report).
- Carrying out optimal fertilisation, including filling feeding troughs and checking EC/pH.
- Water sampling and collaboration on the best practice for feed recipes.
- Advising on the labour processes, including daily visits to the glasshouse together with the team leader(s)/Operations Manager.
- Collaboration with the IPM team, advising the best course of action.
- Point of contact for day to day growing operations.
- Maintaining contacts with fellow growers and crop advisors at own location and visit other locations to share knowledge.
- Prepare and participate in the weekly planning meeting with the management team.
- Monitoring the cultivation planning and provide weekly and monthly forecast for relevant crops.
- Optimal use of energy.
- Compliance to the H leads by example, motivates others, makes decisions, initiates action, takes responsibility.
- Commercial and financial awareness, effective financial management.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
