The Team Leader is responsible for managing a small team within the greenhouse and ensuring the smooth operation of key greenhouse activities. This includes overseeing crop harvesting, pruning, de-leafing, and plant training techniques such as twisting and lowering. The role also involves coordinating logistics, maintaining hygiene standards, and supervising seasonal tasks like glasshouse cleaning and crop re-planting. The supervisor ensures all work is completed efficiently, safely, and to high quality standards while supporting team performance and productivity.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise workers to complete daily and weekly tasks efficiently, properly, and in a timely manner.
  • Lead and motivate the team to deliver productivity targets, such as speed, through praise and recognition, and ensure continuous communication with the Operations Manager.
  • Assist in setting productivity targets and make suggestions where appropriate.
  • Continually monitor workers’ technique for improvement to maximise productivity.
  • Provide constructive feedback and demonstrate required techniques when necessary.
  • Lead the team by example, maintaining discipline and a good work ethic to deliver excellent outcomes.
  • Perform quality checks of crop work and harvested produce and record results in the app.
  • Ensure employees look after company property such as equipment and uniform.
  • Maintain hygiene protocols and health and safety standards at all times.
  • Note: Weekend work will be required.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:

  • Previous FMCG experience.
  • Prior greenhouse work as a crop worker or harvester – Desirable.
  • Seeking next step in career as a Team Leader.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Good practical IT skills/experience.
  • Ability to motivate and influence teams.
