We're looking for an experienced, forward-thinking HR Business Partner to join Great Schools Trust at an exciting stage in the development of our People function. This is an opportunity for a confident HR generalist who enjoys solving problems, building relationships and making a real difference. You'll provide practical, professional HR advice to school leaders, manage complex employee relations matters and help us develop a more proactive, modern and effective HR service. Above all, we're looking for someone who combines sound judgement with a genuine commitment to people, balancing compassion, fairness and accountability.
About the role
Working closely with the Director of HR, academy leaders and central colleagues, you'll provide trusted HR advice and support across the Trust. You'll take ownership of a varied employee relations caseload, including absence, conduct, capability, performance and grievances, ensuring matters are managed fairly, consistently and in line with employment law and Trust values. But this role goes beyond casework. You'll help strengthen leadership confidence, improve people management practices, embrace technology and identify opportunities to make our HR processes simpler, smarter and more effective.
About you
We're looking for an approachable, credible and solutions-focused HR professional with strong generalist experience and sound employee relations expertise. You'll be confident handling sensitive matters, building effective relationships and supporting leaders to make fair, informed decisions. Experience in education, a multi-academy trust or a unionised environment would be an advantage, but we also welcome fresh perspectives and transferable experience from other sectors. Most importantly, you'll be someone who takes ownership, challenges constructively and believes great HR should be both human and effective.
Why join us?
You'll join a Trust that values its people, takes culture seriously and recognises the important role HR plays in helping schools thrive. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution, influence how we work and help shape the next stage of our evolving HR function. If you're passionate about people, confident in your HR expertise and ready to make a difference, we'd love to hear from you.
