The Grammar School at Leeds (GSAL) is seeking an enthusiastic Teaching Assistant (EYFS) to join the Primary School team, working with children from 2 to 11 years old. The successful candidate must hold a relevant early years qualification. If you do not hold an early years qualification, please consider our other available primary teaching assistant vacancy.

The role focuses on supporting children's learning, both academically and pastorally, delivering engaging lessons with teachers, preparing resources, providing individual and small-group support, and supervising the class for short periods when needed. Pastoral care is a key aspect of the role. The successful candidate will help ensure that all pupils feel safe, supported, and included, promote positive behaviour and social development in line with school policies, and work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and colleagues to enhance pupil progress. You will also contribute to the wider school community by assisting with events and open days.

The GSAL primary school welcomes children aged 2–11 and is based in its own building on the main site, with purpose-built facilities including performance spaces, music rooms, art, food technology and science rooms, playgrounds, and extensive playing fields. We deliver outstanding pastoral and learning opportunities to enable every child to be kind, be brave and grow a little every day, which are our core primary values.

Salary and Contract

Salary: GSAL 16, full-time equivalent Β£26,349. Actual salary payable based on 37.5 hours per week, term-time only plus 15 days Β£22,339.42
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Start date: As soon as possible subject to recruitment checks

Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and small-group support to pupils, helping develop skills and confidence
  • Assist with the preparation of resources and deliver engaging lessons under the supervision of teaching staff
  • Supervise the class for short periods when needed
  • Support pastoral care and promote positive behaviour and social development in line with school policies
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and colleagues to enhance pupil progress
  • Contribute to the wider school community by assisting with events and open days
Qualifications

Relevant early years qualification required; if not held, consider other primary TA vacancy
