Are you someone who thrives in a practical food environment, enjoys hands-on work, and takes pride in supporting the smooth delivery of engaging Food Technology lessons? We are seeking a proactive, reliable and highly skilled Food Technology technician to join our friendly Food Technology team. This position is 25 hours per week, term-time only, plus 10 additional days, supporting colleagues and students in Food Technology.

If you have practical food skills, are very organised, enjoy a varied workload, and are keen to support the work of a collaborative and supportive department, this position offers an excellent opportunity for you.

The role

In this varied and rewarding role, you will prepare materials and equipment for Food Technology lessons, maintain our specialist rooms and stores, and provide support during practical lessons. You will play a key role in ensuring that such lessons are delivered smoothly, safely and creatively.

Whilst previous experience as a Food Technology technician would be an advantage, it is not essential - what matters most is a positive, proactive attitude together with the relevant skills. We are looking for someone who is:

  • Highly organised, equipped with practical food skills, and confident in managing ingredients, equipment, and the preparation of Food Technology rooms.
  • Motivated and enthusiastic about supporting engaging, practical lessons.
  • An effective communicator, able to work well with both colleagues and students.
  • Proactive, adaptable, and keen to develop new skills.
  • Able to work independently as well as contributing effectively as part of a team.
  • Taking pride in maintaining clean, safe, and efficiently run facilities, with attention to detail.
  • An ability to offer digital photography and editing skills would be an advantage.

Above all, we are seeking someone with enthusiasm and a genuine ‘can do’ approach to support excellent food technology education. You will be joining a collaborative and welcoming Food Technology department, committed to maintaining a positive, practical and engaging learning environment.
