The predicted salary is between 21755 - 23941 £ per year.

Salary GSAL point 9, full time equivalent £23,941 per annum. Actual salary payable based on 37.5 hours per week, term-time only plus five days and catering retainer £21,755.34.

This is a Permanent, Full time - term time vacancy.

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 07.00-15.00.

Salary: GSAL 9, £12.41/hour, £21,755.34 per annum based on term-time only plus 5 days and catering retainer.

Contract type: Permanent, term-time only plus five days (with some requirement to work ad-hoc days during holiday periods for events).

The Grammar School at Leeds is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Assistant Chef to join our friendly and hardworking catering team. You will play a key part in delivering high-quality meals and service to pupils and colleagues alike. You will work under the guidance of the Head Chef to prepare, present, and serve meals that meet the high standards of the school and satisfy our vibrant school community.

As Assistant Chef, you will contribute to the smooth and safe running of the kitchen by adhering to all food hygiene and safety standards, including HACCP regulations. You will be involved in planning menus and ensuring the kitchen remains a clean, secure, and well-organised environment. Your role will also include helping with school events and special functions, which may occasionally take place outside normal hours. Experience in a school or large commercial catering setting, along with a proactive attitude and the ability to work well as part of a team, is essential.

We are looking for someone with strong communication and customer service skills, who enjoys working in a dynamic and child-focused environment. A commitment to safeguarding, equity and diversity, and the overall wellbeing of pupils is fundamental to this role. Catering colleagues need to be available to work some ad-hoc days during the school holiday periods to assist with events. In return, catering colleagues receive a retainer payment during this period which is included in the salary.
