Our client is a large, complex organisation delivering a wide range of public facing services. They are looking to appoint a Management Accountant to support both revenue and capital activity across a diverse portfolio.
This is a pivotal role, offering real breadth and exposure. You will provide high quality financial analysis, robust reporting and effective challenge to support medium term planning and informed decision making at senior level. The role also supports organisation wide change initiatives and evolving funding arrangements.
As a Management Accountant, you will:
Lead the preparation, review and detailed analysis of financial forecasts and future budget plans across the full financial cycle
Ensure forecasts and budgets align with operational priorities and strategic objectives
Manage, develop and motivate a finance team to deliver accurate, timely and high quality financial information
Provide constructive challenge and professional financial advice to budget holders and senior stakeholders
Ensure financial information is compliant with internal regulations, accounting standards and best practice
Maintain strong technical accounting knowledge and support period end and year end closure activities
Work closely with finance systems and process colleagues to identify and implement improvements
Act as a finance subject matter expert for a service area, coordinating forecasting, modelling and budget planning activity
Advise on cost drivers, financial modelling, estimates and forecasts, identifying risks and opportunities
Promote strong financial management practices and improve financial capability across non finance teams
Support the preparation of robust business cases, clearly articulating financial implications, benefits and risks
Coordinate financial returns, reporting and information requests as required
What we\’re looking for:
Fully qualified accountant with CCAB or equivalent
Evidence of continuing professional development
Experience working within a large and complex organisation
Strong understanding of financial management frameworks and budgetary control
Experience leading or supervising finance staff
Proven ability to provide financial advice and challenge to senior management
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
