Our client is looking for a hands-on Site Engineering Manager to take ownership of all site maintenance, ensuring plant, equipment and facilities are operating efficiently, safely and in line with compliance standards. Reporting directly to the Head of Operations, this is a key role supporting day-to-day site performance, continuous improvement, and operational reliability.

The site operates a range of specialist plant and equipment, including a mechanical treatment process consisting of a shredder and compactor loaded via a loading shovel. In addition, there is a steam sterilisation process which includes a bin lift, shredder, two screw conveyors, two compactors and a steam generator. The site also utilises a counterbalance forklift as part of its daily operations.

As a Site Engineering Manager, you will:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance in line with the site maintenance programme
  • Manage engineering stock including spare parts, tools and consumables
  • Order parts and materials to minimise downtime
  • Plan and coordinate plant shutdowns in line with operational requirements
  • Organise and manage contractors for servicing, repairs and compliance works
  • Attend and respond to call outs when required
  • Support the development and improvement of plant and equipment
  • Ensure all monitoring, testing and compliance requirements are met
  • Coordinate waste removal and general site maintenance requirements
  • Support wider site operations where needed

What we’re looking for:

  • Strong experience in maintenance within an industrial or plant environment
  • Experience with shredder repairs and refurbishment, including cutter replacement
  • Ability to service and maintain forklift trucks
  • Strong mechanical and electrical fault finding skills
  • Welding experience and ability to carry out repairs
  • Experience maintaining roller shutter doors and general site equipment
  • Proven ability to manage contractors and maintenance schedules
  • Hands-on, proactive and solutions-focused approach
