1:1 support for a student with autism and ADHD
The Role:
- You will provide consistent support across the school day so the student can access each lesson.
- Before class, you will check equipment, preview instructions and agree a simple goal for the period.
- In lessons, you will break tasks into clear steps, use visual prompts and now next cards, and model how to start written work.
- You will give quiet cues to sustain focus, plan short regulation breaks, and guide a calm return to learning.
- You will help organise notes, record homework accurately and submit work on time.
- After lessons, you will log quick outcomes, flag triggers and positives, and share next steps with subject teachers and the SENCO so strategies remain aligned.
The Candidate & Requirements:
- You stay calm, communicate clearly and build independence rather than doing the work for the pupil.
- Degree, 2:2 or above in Psychology or a closely related field.
- Clear written notes and confident spoken communication.
- Enhanced DBS, held already or willingness to obtain.
- Motivation to work in education with interest in autism, ADHD and regulation strategies.
- Experience with children or young people is desirable but not essential.
