Within GORSE, we are passionate that all children excel, regardless of their background or additional needs. We are excited to advertise the role of Communication Support Worker within Little London Bridge, a resource provision for children with Autism and/or Complex Communication Needs, which opened in January 2025.

Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support that empowers pupils, fostering their independence and enhancing their communication skills.
  • Shape the deaf culture within the school and actively contribute to our vision of becoming a centre of excellence for students with a dual diagnosis of Autism and hearing impairment.
  • Support a class teacher and a small team of Level 1 Learning Support Assistants.

Qualifications

  • Minimum requirement level 1 BSL, although level 2 or above is preferred.
  • Completion of DfE Teacher Assistant Induction Programme or equivalent qualifications or experience.
  • NVQ 3 for Teaching Assistants or appropriate level of experience operating in the classroom environment.
  • Ability to work constructively as part of a team.
  • Experience of working with children with Autism and/or Complex Communication Needs.
  • Readiness for an exciting challenge, supporting a class teacher and a small team of Level 1 Learning Support Assistants.

About the Academy

Little London Academy formally joined The GORSE Academies Trust in February 2024. The academy values inclusivity, encouraging pupils to become considerate and responsible members of society. Little London Bridge will grow to become a provision for 40 primary‑aged pupils with an EHCP and Autism/Complex Communication Needs, benefitting from multiple teaching spaces, a purpose‑built outdoor provision, a sensory room and a sensory integration room.
