At the heart of Goodwood Home Farm, our farmers and butchers work side by side to create something special - exceptional, organic produce with true provenance. We’re looking for a Head Butcher to take the lead, bringing our nose-to-tail philosophy to life while delivering outstanding quality, consistency and craft. This is a hands-on role where you’ll take full ownership of our butchery operation - from carcass breakdown through to retail. You’ll ensure every cut reflects the quality of our Estate, while driving efficiency, innovation and margin.
Working closely with our Food Production team, you’ll develop new products, champion seasonal produce and make the most of every animal. You’ll lead and inspire your team, creating a confident, skilled and passionate butchery environment, while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, compliance and customer service.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading the day-to-day running of the butchery
- Overseeing preparation, ageing, storage and retail
- Maximising yield and driving product development
- Managing stock, ordering and deliveries
- Ensuring full compliance with food safety and HACCP
- Delivering knowledgeable, standout customer service
- Coaching and developing your team
What you’ll bring:
- Prior experience in a butchery leadership role, including carcass breakdown
- Strong knowledge of cuts and animal physiology
- Understanding of HACCP and food safety standards
- A passion for sustainable, organic food production
- A natural ability to lead, coach and develop a team
- A proactive, organised approach with strong attention to detail
Hours: 6am – 3pm, 5 days per week
