About the Role
We are looking for a friendly, hands‑on and organised restaurant manager to run the day‑to‑day operations of our local neighbourhood restaurant in Stoke Newington. This is a hands‑on role in a small team, so we are looking for someone who enjoys working closely with staff, customers and the owners, while ensuring the restaurant operates smoothly, efficiently and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the daily operation of the restaurant, including opening and closing procedures.
- Lead, support and motivate the team.
- Create staff rotas and manage holidays, attendance and staffing levels.
- Welcome customers and ensure a warm, friendly and professional service.
- Deal with customer enquiries, feedback and complaints promptly and appropriately.
- Maintain high standards of food service, cleanliness and presentation.
- Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth service and good communication.
- Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering food, beverages and other supplies.
- Monitor wastage, portion control and operating costs.
- Ensure the restaurant follows all relevant food safety, health and safety and licensing requirements.
- Train new employees and help develop the existing team.
- Organise and oversee private bookings, events and busy service periods.
- Communicates well.
- Lead by example and be willing to get involved wherever needed during busy periods.
What We're Looking For
- Previous restaurant, hospitality or supervisory/management experience.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- A friendly, approachable and professional manner.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to remain calm and make decisions during busy services.
- Experience managing or supervising a small team.
- Good understanding of food hygiene and workplace health and safety.
- Ability to manage stock, cash and basic operational costs.
- A hands‑on attitude — no job is too small.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and busy periods as required.
